Assessment

At Mattersey Primary School we follow the National Curriculum. When pupils are in Class 1 The Burrow, they are assessed at key points: at the beginning of their Reception year (Reception Baseline Assessment), the end of Reception (Early Learning Goals), Year 1 Phonics screening, and then at the end of Key Stage 1. In Class 2 The Hive, pupils will be assessed for Times Tables at the end of Year 4 and then take their SATs in Reading, Writing and Maths at the end of Year 6.

Each half term, teachers will assess pupils and track their progress. Teachers and teaching assistants work together to support pupil progress and complete Targeted Academic Plans of Support (TAPs) for each child. We use a Key Skills assessment system to assess and track our pupils for each subject area.

In September,  all pupils starting in Reception in The Burrow Class will be assessed using the Reception Baseline assessment. This is a measure in schools to monitor and track the progress that children make through school. We are asked to do the check in the first 6 weeks of your child starting school. This check will be carried out by the class teacher on a one to one basis with each child. It is a lovely opportunity for staff to get to know your child even more and to give a helpful snapshot of what they can do at the start of their school journey. Please see below an information pack for parents that will give you more information about it. Please don't hesitate to contact Mrs Wilson if you require any more information.
